Biray LOVES to podcast! Isn’t that obvious – LOL.
She first realized her passion for podcasting in 2006 when she received a $10,000 scholarship from Arizona State University (ASU) for young entrepreneurs. She was determined to explore the possibilities of developing a platform that delivered on-demand workouts to portable media players (such as, iPods). While the company never took off, what she learned from the process was priceless.
From there, she went on to be the first faculty associate in ASU’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation to deliver the online activity classes for their Exercise & Wellness Program via podcast. (Imagine getting college credit for working out by listening to motivating lectures on the treadmill!)
She has authored a number of articles for IDEA Health & Fitness Association on integrating social media and podcasting into fitness businesses. Her book, “Fitness Podcasting: Giving Fitness Professionals a Voice” (scheduled for release in October 2010) empowers fitness pros around the world to embrace podcasting as an effective tool to enhance relationships with clients, increase revenue stream, and expand their message.
In addition, Biray is an international fitness and wellness speaker and author. She has presented at FitnessFest, National Wellness Conference, IDEA Health & Fitness World Convention, ACSM Health & Fitness Summit, and IHRSA. In 2008 she was the keynote speaker at the Major Moves conference in Birmingham, UK.
Biray has been in the health and fitness industry for over 12 years. She is an ACE Certified Instructor & Personal Trainer. She trains clients online (of course), but still enjoys teaching all formats of group exercise, from kickboxing and muscular conditioning classes to yoga! If she *had* to pick her favorite format to teach, it would definitely be cycling (whether it is in-person or via podcast)!
Biray resides in Tampa, Florida. She recently completed her 3rd half-marathon and 2nd Olympic distance triathlon. Currently, she is training for a century cycling tour (that’s 100 miles of riding fun!). When she’s not working out, she listens to podcasts to/from work (well, she has an hour commute both ways – what else is there to do?). Her fave podcasts are (too many to list, but here are some) Nutrition Diva’s Quick and Dirty Tips to Eating Well, the Dinner Party Download, and Stuff Mom Never Told You.
