DESCRIPTION: Showing how I worked with the Physical Education Program at my local university and a local college to create one credit academic programs held at our recreation facility. This program allowed the university/college the ability to offer more classes, freedom for students and we sold personal training and class passes. It is a win win for everyone, students could take a variety of classes attend 18 classes and receive academic credit. I know that this type of program could be implemented nationwide and help our small clubs needing those extra dollars and help students have a better variety of fitness options to choose from.

I’ve worked as a Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, Program Manager, Fitness Model and business owner. I currently live in Tampa, FL and work for a Medical Health Plan running the weight loss, fitness and preventative programs for over 7000 members and 62 worksites. I also own a small business where I cater to pre/post natal weight management and programs for moms and families. I’m the Regional Director for the Medical Fitness Industry and over the last 3 years I’ve become more involved in Medical Fitness Centers in hospitals and working closely with physicians to create a bridge and a lasting relationship with Medicine and Fitness.
DESCRIPTION: Health Care in our county is changing drastically and businesses are FINALLY seeing the link between being healthy and decreasing their “bottom line”. TITLE: The Battle of the Bulge. Community Health War.

: Ian McGriff is the Head Trainer and Fitness Director with Results Fitness Training at Tipton Lakes Athletic Club in Columbus, IN. Ian has grown the fitness program at TLAC over 300% in less than 4 years and has created a profound impact in his community to contest and work similar to the Battle of the Bulge, that has created greater community awareness and excitement about health, fitness, and changing lives.
DESCRIPTION: The Battle of the Bulge was a 6 week Weight Loss Contest held at TLAC in the fall of 2009. A price of $50 per person for teams of 5 gave entry into the contest, winning team won $2,500. Our goal was 10 teams of 5 (breaking even). 55 teams of 5 signed up! This is how we did it and the community reaction.

: I am a 10 year fitness enthusiast and I have always been interested in movement. I went to School for Athletic training and Pre Physical Therapy. We were always taught to look at someone’s GAIT in order to try and identify the disconnection in an athlete’s body. Back then we were still benching and performing squats instead of analyzing functional movement. I am one of 13 premier Budokon Students, current TRX STC instructor and one of 7 TRX R4 instructors as well as a student of life and my peers. I hope to share my collected knowledge

: Mona Kirton and Melissa Spraul collectively have more than 25 years experience in the fitness industry, with a focus on group exercise.  Longtime step instructors at several national fitness clubs, they believe in creating a fun environment where members can feel free to relax and express themselves through movement.  Teaching individually and as a tag-team, Mona and Melissa like to show people that it’s not about how good/bad you do in a class, it’s about the personal journey and the joy you take from that experience.
DESCRIPTION: As fitness professionals we know our job is to help people get/stay in shape and live healthier lives.  But is that really all it is? Our job is unlike any other, in that we see the positive results our work has on the individual and we impact their lives in a deeply personal way. Every day, we hear about people that will do just about anything to avoid missing a cardio class: drive across town, forego social plans, work around health and personal issues…the list goes on and on. : I am a personal trainer and Pilates instructor as well as a ballet hybrid and martial arts teacher. I have been instructing for over 10yrs.
DESCRIPTION: Both ballet and martial arts require an extreme mental and physical self-mastery. The practitioner has to possess and command a very focused mind to body connection in both art forms. The object of both is to train by instruction and practice, especially to teach  improvement of physical powers, strength and self-control. Thus the extreme training going into both disciplines is often comparable from the very fledgling beginnings to the highest levels of practice.  When combined in a class format, the student often finds a fluid and seamless experience, giving a ying and a yang with out the need to label the original form.
