One More Way to Conquer a Fitness Conference

Last year I was invited as a guest blogger on Group Fit Power and wrote a post on“5 Ways to Conquer a Fitness Conference”!

As I was getting ready for this year’s IDEA World Convention, I came up with one more ways to ensure attendees get the most out of their experiences!

6. SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE: Many of us attend conferences to gain new ideas that we can apply back home, at our clubs and with our clients. We often return motivated and eager to share what we have learned with our colleagues and staff. This year, more fitness professionals have been financially impacted by the economy, and many have had to cancel or opt out of attending simply due to their budgetary constrains. In order to inspire our industry as a whole, use this opportunity to share portions of what you learn with others. Here are some ways to do that:

- Write a blog about your experiences so people can follow the conference from your personal and professional POV. Usually, the hotels have internet access. Collect your thoughts and publish your updates at the end of the day.

- Twitter about the things you are learning at the conference. Don’t have time to create a blog, just update the latest happenings 140 characters at a time (from your phone!). Here are some of the attendees, IDEA staff, and fitness presenters who will be posting to their Twitter feeds during the IDEA World convention: @ideafit @FitnessEditor @RyFit @MikeBannan @KathieDavis @AmandaVogel @befitt… for more go to Twitter Search and type in #IDEAWorld or ‘IDEA World Fitness’ and subscribe to the tweets that contain those words in their text.

- Take photos at the Events and Expos (since pictures are not allowed to be taken during sessions) and upload them to a public photo sharing site like Flickr. Add significant commentary that explains each picture.

- Interview presenters and attendees using Utterli which uses your phone to create podcasts and posts them live to the web!

Also, keep checking the IDEA Health & Fitness home page for live video updates, staff blogs posts and conference photos! :)
