<description>I am in no way a health-fitness professional (in fact, I'm more likely to become a client in the near future... gotta get rid of those Pringles). But the idea of creating a code of ethics and a selective club is a good idea... if your customers understand what you are... Let me explain.

I got my bachelor's degree in graphic design a while ago. One of the biggest issue with graphic and web design is that EVERYBODY now has access to the tools we are using (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash, etc.). What makes us graphic designers is our ability to boil down the information a client has to communicate and make it clear to a target audience.

But most clients don't understand the basic concept of effective communication. They see something flashy or trendy and they want it. So even if graphic designers would try to create a selective club and build a code of ethics, nobody would care, because they don't know any of the advantages of working with professionals. They only see a higher bill.

I bet the same thing must apply to your profession. So many people must be jumping on the health bandwagon that your message might get diluted to a point where you have a hard time getting any attention and you get associated with the whole.

But let me get this clear: I think a code of ethics is a great idea. Every blogger should have one, or at least some kind of mission statement. And if a personal code of ethics of yours is appealing enough to your profession, people will adhere to it as they come across it.</description>
